Reynoldsville area man the victim of a scam

A local man was the victim of a scam that occurred on May 14.

According to the State Police at DuBois, 28-year-old Jona Stewart of the Soldier area of Winslow Township was contacted via text message by an unknown person claiming he was approved for a$10,000 loan through One Main Financial in Louisville, Kentucky.

After contacting Stewart, they requested a $300 payment. After they payment was made on a Google Play Card, they requested another $1,100 payment. Stewart then requested his money be reimbursed, but he did not receive it.

Police say the investigation is ongoing
