Reynoldsville, Sykesville, and Brockway Ambulance Services celebrate 50th anniversary
Members of Reynoldsville Ambulance organization joined their colleagues from Brockway and Sykesville to celebrate their joint 50th anniversary. The event was held on Brockway on June 25.
In an interview with reporter Andrew Bundy, Reynoldsville Ambulance President Dan Stitt traced the history of the service, from it’s origins in 1973 and its several moves to its current location on East Main Street.
As far as how things are going now, Stitt said volunteers are badly needed.
“It’s getting harder and harder to get people,” he said.
When asked how the community can help, Stitt responded, “The biggest thing is we need EMTs (emergency medical technicians). The EMTs…work with the patient. Until we get more of them…we’re just hurting to be able to staff calls.”
The ambulance service is in its annual membership drive. Donations can be sent to the service at P.O. Box 247, Reynoldsville. There is also a locked mailbox on front of the station. For more information or to obtain a membership, call 814.653.8746 and leave a message.
