Jeff Tech Operating Committee approves new School to Career Coordinator
The Jeff Tech Operating Committee met in regular session on September 27 and moved quickly through the agenda.
The committee approved the hiring of Pam Kerr as the School to Career Coordinator retroactive to August 26. Kerr transitioned from the Automotive Collision Repair instructor to her new position. The committee also approved her replacement in the Automotive Collision Repair department, hiring Stacey Rising.
In one late agenda item, the committee approved the Emergency Instructional Time Template from the Pennsylvania Department of Education for the current school year. The plan provides some flexibility for a district in making up instructional time if there is a closure due to Covid-19.
School Director Dr. Barry Fillman said, “We’re not on that page right now; it’s nice to have…just in case.”
Dr. Fillman said that the form was approved last year but Jeff Tech did not not need it. He said every effort is being made this year to get back to the routine of school.
“We’re trying very hard to have some sense of normalcy,” he said. In his director’s report to the committee, Dr. Fillman praised the Jeff Tech staff for a good start to the school year.
