Jeff Tech sends three to a state competition; names Student of the Month

Jeff Tech students recently competed at SkillsUSA representing District 7 which is composed of 19 schools.  We are very excited that 30 students competed in the District competitions held at Stuckey’s Subaru in Hollidaysburg, Fulton County AVTS in McConnellsburg, Central PA Institute for Science & Technology in Pleasant Gap and Admiral Perry AVTS in Ebensburg. Thirteen (13) of those students were awarded medals.  We will have three (3) first place recipients eligible to compete at the State Competition in Hershey, PA, April 10-12, 2019.

The students, their placements and the area of competition are listed below:

Skills USA is a national student organization that instills the development of employability, participatory and leadership skills to complement the occupational skills developed by students in technical education classrooms or work-based learning sites.  Some of the purposes of the Skills competitions are to unite a common bond in students; develop leadership abilities; instill work ethic; help students attain a purposeful life; create enthusiasm for learning and promote a high standard in trade ethics, workmanship, scholarship and safety.

Delarme Jeff Tech February Student of the Month

Jeff Tech’s student of the month for February is Kelsey Delarme.  Kelsey is an 11th grade student in the Cosmetology program.  Her home school is the Brookville Area School District.  She is the daughter of Heidi and James Delarme.  At Jeff Tech, Kelsey is a member of the Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO), Aevidum Club, and dance committee. She also participates in SkillsUSA.

Kelsey represents Jeff Tech as a speaker at school board meetings during Career and Tech Ed month and helps with Jeff Tech events such as the Fall Festival and 8th grade tours.  Kelsey also participates in 4-H and youth group
